Socialization and Education of Tuberculosis Prevention in Aceh Besar District

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the most deadly infectious diseases in the world. The high morbidity and mortality of TB indicate the need for special attention in prevention and control efforts. One effective behavior that can be done through educational activities on TB epidemiology. This community service activity uses an interactive education method involving 30 participants: fathers who are heads of families and housewives in Miruek Lamreudeup Village, Baitussalam District, Aceh Besar Regency. The results showed that the average value in the pre-test was 5.96 while the average post-test value was 16.13. This figure shows that the participants' post-test values increased almost 3 times after being given counseling. This education is expected to increase changes in community behavior to prevent TB.
