Abstract

Scabies, also known as itch mite, is a common skin health issue, especially in tropical and subtropical regions. In developing countries, the prevalence of scabies is higher, particularly in densely populated areas, including orphanages. The aim of this community service is to increase the knowledge of students at the Lembaga Kesejahteraan Sosial Anak (LKSA) Rumah Penyantun Muhammadiyah orphanage about scabies and its prevention through an awareness session. The Community Service Program was conducted through an educational session at the Mushalla LKSA Rumah Penyantun Muhammadiyah on March 24, 2023, with 50 participants, consisting of 22 male and 28 female teenagers. The pre-test and post-test results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge, with an average pre-test score of 87.3 and a post-test score of 94.1. This program successfully raised participants' knowledge and awareness of scabies prevention, emphasizing the importance of continuous education in preventing infectious diseases in communal environments.
